و از جملهٔ ادلّه بر اثبات این امر آنکه در هر عهد و عصر که غیب هویّه در هیکل بشریّه ظاهر میشد بعضی از مردمی که معروف نبودند و علاقه بدنیا و جهتی نداشته‌اند بضیاء شمس نبوّت مستضیء و بانوار قمر هدایت مهتدی میشدند و بلقآء الله فائز میگشتند لهذا این بود که علمای عصر و اغنیای عهد استهزاء مینمودند چنانچه از لسان آن گمراهان میفرماید: ﴿فَقَالَ المَلَأُ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُوا مِن قَومِهِ مَا نَراکَ إِلَّا بَشَرًا مِثْلَنَا وَمَا نَراکَ اتَّبَعَکَ إِلَّا الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ أَرَاذِلَنَا بَادِيَ الرَّأْيِ وَمَا نَرَی لَکُم عَلَیْنَا مِن فَضْلٍ بَلْ نَظُنَّکُمْ کَاذِبِینَ﴾، اعتراض مینمودند و بآن مظاهر قدسیّه میگفتند که متابعت شما نکرده مگر اراذل ما که اعتنائی بشأن آنها نیست و مقصودشان این بوده که علما و اغنیا و معارف قوم بشما ایمان نیاوردند و باین دلیل و امثال آن استدلال بر بطلان من له الحقّ مینمودند

Shoghi Effendi Translation

Amongst the proofs demonstrating the truth of this Revelation is this, that in every age and Dispensation, whenever the invisible Essence was revealed in the person of His Manifestation, certain souls, obscure and detached from all worldly entanglements, would seek illumination from the Sun of Prophethood and Moon of Divine guidance, and would attain unto the Divine Presence. For this reason, the divines of the age and those possessed of wealth, would scorn and scoff at these people. Even as He hath revealed concerning them that erred: “Then said the chiefs of His people who believed not, ‘We see in Thee but a man like ourselves; and we see not any who have followed Thee except our meanest ones of hasty judgment, nor see we any excellence in you above ourselves: nay, we deem you liars.’” They caviled at those holy Manifestations, and protested saying: “None hath followed you except the abject amongst us, those who are worthy of no attention.” Their aim was to show that no one amongst the learned, the wealthy, and the renowned believed in them. By this and similar proofs they sought to demonstrate the falsity of Him that speaketh naught but the truth.

The principal doctrinal work of the Faith, revealed in Baghdad within the space of two days and two nights in response to questions from the Báb’s maternal uncle. Shoghi Effendi described it as occupying a position unequalled by any work except the Kitáb-i-Aqdas — a model of Persian prose, at once original, chaste, vigorous, and remarkably lucid.

Published in 1938, this companion volume to Gleanings contains 184 prayers and meditations selected by Shoghi Effendi from Bahá’u’lláh’s devotional writings revealed across successive exiles from Baghdad to ‘Akká. Shoghi Effendi described it as a volume whose perusal would deepen the spirit of devotion and faith.

Revealed in Adrianople and addressed to a believer named Aḥmad, this Tablet has been invested by Bahá’u’lláh with a special potency and significance. Its central imagery draws on the metaphor of fire and water: “Be thou as a flame of fire to My enemies and a river of life eternal to My loved ones.”

Revealed during a visit to Mount Carmel, this Tablet addresses the mountain directly and prophesies its future as the world spiritual and administrative center of the Faith. Shoghi Effendi designated it one of three foundational Charters. Its imagery of the Ark and the dwellers therein prefigures the Universal House of Justice.

Chanted aloud in the outskirts of Baghdad just weeks before the Declaration in the Garden of Riḍván, its gloomy prognostications aroused the grave apprehensions of all who heard it. Only the Arabic portion has an authorized translation; the Persian portion remains untranslated.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Written by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá in three parts between 1901 and 1908, opened and read after His passing on 28 November 1921. Shoghi Effendi designated it the Charter of the New World Order — the mightiest instrument forged to ensure the continuity of the three ages of the Bahá’í Dispensation.
